Random the Audiobook (“the app”) is published by Matt Ballantine. This policy explains what data the app collects, and it’s short because the honest answer is: almost none.
What the app stores
The app stores the following only on your own device, using standard platform local storage (SharedPreferences on Android/iOS):
- Your bookmarked pages
- Any notes you write for a page
- Your place in the current listening sequence, so you can resume
- Your chosen playback speed and volume
None of this is ever sent anywhere. It never leaves your device, we don’t have a server that receives it, and we can’t see it. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
What the app does not do
- It does not collect analytics or usage data.
- It does not use advertising or tracking identifiers.
- It does not require you to create an account or sign in.
- It does not access your contacts, location, camera, or microphone.
- It does not share any data with third parties, because it doesn’t collect any to share.
Network access
The app plays audio and images bundled inside the app itself — it does not need an internet connection to work, and doesn’t make network requests to any server we operate. Tapping “Buy the print book” opens your device’s browser to an external retailer’s website, which has its own privacy practices; we don’t send it anything about you beyond your device following that link.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes — for example, if a future version of the app adds a feature that does collect data — we’ll update this page and the “last updated” date above.
